Optimism is in the air this time of year —on the verge of The Masters— and there's so much excitement around the game of golf. The weather has turned, the natural world is coming back to life and we're all itching to get out and play. This coincides perfectly with all the new golf gear that is being unveiled for the start of the season. Most notable for us is the collection from Todd Snyder and FootJoy. It's the perfect combination of cool New York menswear and one of the most iconic brands in the history of golf.

The collection consists of on-course clothing, accessories and special Todd Snyder editions of FootJoy's new Premier Series golf shoes. The collaboration incorporates vintage inspiration with classic menswear elements from seersucker to tipped polos. The Premiere Series footwear in the collection features two new upper designs that were inspired by iconic shoes from the FJ archives but paired with the modern materials and details that make FootJoy is #1 on Tour, baby.

Todd Snyder's inspiration from the collection is rooted in a modern approach to classic golf style. “I was looking in the FootJoy archives at pictures of Arnold Palmer and Chi-Chi Rodriguez, and recognized this moment before performance fabrics took over when players had this effortless cool aesthetic that felt very relevant to right now,” says Snyder. “We are excited to collaborate with FootJoy on a wardrobe inspired by that golden era of golf, but for the modern guy who wants to maintain his personal sense of style when he hits the golf course.”

Todd is on to something there. We don't want to abandon our personal style just to play golf —we want to bring it with us. This collaboration is proof that those two ideas can coexist.

There aren't many things that will spring someone out of bed at 5am like an early round of golf with friends. Golf's ability to bring good things together —like Todd Snyder and FootJoy—is the ongoing gift of the game. The guys pictured here assembled early one morning at Monarch Beach in Dana Point, California. We were one of the first groups off with the morning sun just starting to break. We were a mix of old friends and new acquaintances. Sean Hotchkiss, a longtime friend from New York was the first to commit. He's a writer, coach and all around stylish guy. Sean has had an on and off relationship with golf — currently he's on and we think he's going to stay that way. Next in our group was Cole Young. His easy going nature was only outshined by his fluid swing and talent on the course. Cole always seems to know everything that is happening in style and in golf. Bradford Wilson brought the energy and laughter to the round — it makes sense he's an actor. He's always game to join in for golf, even if that means making an early trek out to Dana Point. Often times you meet up as near strangers and walk away making plans for out next outing together.

A passion for golf is a great unifier of people, be it on an airplane at work or the green of a local course. With this in mind, we assembled a group of new and old friends for a round of golf in the Todd Snyder x FootJoy collection. With views of the Pacific Ocean we proved that you don't have to play well to look good.

Golf gives us many things — respite from technology, an escape from the pressures of life and the feeling of camaraderie with friends. Now it is also giving us the style points we want in our everyday life.
