Seiko gets the Rowing Blazers Treatment

By Max ArdenJune 21, 2021

There are few brands having more fun right now than Rowing Blazers. The NYC-based subversive-prep brand has gained a cult following for reimagining classic items with playful and colorful designs. Rowing Blazers has also become known for its many collaborations with brands like Sperry, Fila, the NBA, John’s of Bleecker Street, and now Seiko

Designed by Rowing Blazers founder Jack Carlson in partnership with respected watch guru Eric Wind, the new Rowing Blazers x Seiko capsule includes three unique Seiko 5 Sports watches. The two limited editions sport a checkered bezel and a Rowing Blazers zig-zag bezel and are limited to 500 pieces. There's also a special edition, my personal favorite, which features a multicolored bezel. All three watches have a Rowing Blazers double stamp at six o’clock, a racing stripe second hand, and comes with both a nato-style strap and a Rowing Blazers x Seiko dad hat.

The collaboration Sports 5 also comes in a clear caseback so you can see the beautiful movement at work. Inside is another Rowing Blazers detail — a skeleton in a stance that resembles the thinker with the Latin phrase “TEMPVS FVGIT” underneath which translates to “time flies”. With a water resistance of 10 bar (or 100 meters) this watch is more than durable enough for your daily activities.

These watches are a perfect example of what Rowing Blazers stands for — classic products with a fun twist and guarantee to set your daily timepiece apart from everyone else’s monotone steel diver.

You can get your own Rowing Blazers x Seiko Sports 5 in Seiko USA’s online store for $495 or go hunting on eBay
